Rincón de Piedras Unidos Foundation: Bringing Hope Home to the Morán Espinal Family

ree

Jamamucito, San José de las Matas — July 25, 2025At Rincón de Piedras Unidos Foundation, Inc., we believe that true change comes when communities unite for a shared purpose. This month, that belief came to life in the mountains of the Dominican Sierra, as we celebrated the grand inauguration of a new home for the Morán Espinal family — a project realized in collaboration with Juan de Dios en la Tierra, Inc. and the YouTube channel Juan de Dios en la Tierra.

This was not just about giving a house — it was about restoring dignity, inspiring hope, and building a sustainable future for a humble family that has shown patience, gratitude, and faith throughout the years.

A Partnership that Changes Lives

From the earliest stages of planning, our foundation worked hand in hand with Juan de Dios en la Tierra, Inc., whose president, Juan de Dios Collado, oversaw every step of the project. The architectural design was created by Andrés Balza, with construction led by master builder Zacarías Espinal.

One of the most innovative aspects of this collaboration was the eco-friendly patio design, conceived and supervised by Juan de Dios Collado. This system captures rainwater from the roof and natural land runoff, channels it through infiltration ditches and percolation wells, and prevents moisture buildup and mud around the home. Beyond that, it helps recharge underground aquifers and increase the flow of nearby streams and the Jamamú River — a model that could benefit communities across the Dominican Republic.

A Day of Joy and Unity

The inauguration was filled with emotional moments:

  • Welcoming special guests including Francis Díaz, creator of La Vida del Campo RD, alongside Lilo, Suleica, and Maritza from La Vida del Campo RD and Cocinando en el Campo.

  • Heartfelt speeches, the blessing of the home, and the official ribbon cutting.

  • A tour of the new house, from kitchen to bedrooms, and the presentation of donated essentials like a refrigerator from David Rodríguez and a stove from Theany Estevez.

  • Special thanks to other major contributors: Joselito Collado, Pedro José Collado, Nicio Vargas (Mi Tierra RD Cargo Express), Rafa Reyes, and Nardo Rodríguez (raffle contribution).

  • Stunning aerial shots captured by our beloved drone “Lolo”, piloted by Francis Díaz.

Documenting Hope: The ‘Roots of Hope’ Docuseries

The journey of the Morán Espinal family’s new home has been shared with the world through the Roots of Hope docuseries on the Juan de Dios en la Tierra YouTube channel. The three most recent episodes cover the road improvement, the start of construction, and the emotional handover day:

Our Mission in Action

For the Rincón de Piedras Unidos Foundation, this project is a testament to what can be achieved when the diaspora and local communities work together. We not only built a home — we invested in the education, dreams, and future of three young girls whose lives will be forever changed.

We invite you to explore the full story, watch the episodes, and join us in supporting future projects that bring hope and opportunity to the Sierra and beyond.
